Know Your Options When Choosing Lawn Mowers

With a renewed focus on environmental awareness, many people are changing the way they do things around their house. Many of the environmental campaigns are focusing on what individuals can do around their homes to make a positive impact on the overall environment. One of the simplest ways people are being encouraged to improve things is by switching lawn mowers. The traditional mowers produced by companies like Husqvarna and Toro are still excellent options for people to get a great looking lawn, but the same companies are also producing more environmental friendly models that use less gas, or no gas at all.

One of the more popular models of lawn mowers that have made a big revival in the past few years is the single reel walk behind mower. This style is what people used to mow their lawns with before the gas powered versions were made available. They do a great job cutting the grass, but they are extremely heavy and not very forgiving on uneven ground. They are also tough to adjust, but they are the most environmental friendly option.

There are also pure electric lawn mowers that are charged up and powered by a battery. These are a good option for people that are looking to replace their gas powered mower without losing the feel and power they are used to. These mowers do no put any harmful emissions into the air like gas powered version do. They can hold a good charge when at full capacity, but people with larger lawns might not be able to get their mowing done in one session.

Whether you choose an environmental friendly mower, or you stick with the traditional Toro or Husqvarna, it is important to maintain all lawn mowers to keep them running in their optimal condition. Making sure each tire is properly fit and keeping the blades sharp are very important. Blades that have become dull can be sharpened, or replacement blades can be installed. Some of the traditional gas powered mowers are also coming out with models that are more efficient. This can allow people to still have the type of mower they want, and reduce their carbon foot print.
