Feng Shui and Intuition
A frequent question asked of feng shui consultants is whether or not they are also psychic. Some people assume that a feng shui expert visits a property and feels or senses what is wrong with the energy of the space. While a tiny percentage of the analysis may rely on intuition, the majority of the evaluation should be based on time-tested calculations and tangible observations.
As an example, you do not have to be psychic to surmise that an occupant will be depressed if their home is dark, dingy, and massively cluttered. Nor do you have to be psychic to know that if a house sits at the end of a busy street, that the occupants may be unusually irritated. These are energy principles that are taught in beginner’s classes.
As well, much of what gets discussed and evaluated in a feng shui reading are things which are not obvious to the naked eye, but also learned formulas and techniques. I am not psychic, but have learned and validated that a house which faces southwest (between 203-247 degrees) and built in the in the 1930′s, is a house which can encourage occupants to become alcoholic. And there doesn’t have to be any physical evidence around to prove it.
Still, some clients expect that a feng shui consultant will possess super natural powers or at least claim to have them. This may include sensing the presence of ghosts, spirits, and specific events that have transpired at that location. In reality, everyone is intuitive but few people develop it. People should in fact follow their “gut” instincts or hunches more often. My own personal experience with people who claim to be professional psychics has been a parade of individuals who were excessively confident about their overactive imaginations. This is why I make a big point about not emphasizing any psychic abilities of my own or interjecting them into a feng shui analysis. There is so much formal training available that a person could have no intuition at all and still be able to perform a competent feng shui audit.
